Catching bad guys with math for over a decade, did analytics for over three decades. Now retired.

I am currently retired and taking a break from Cybersecurity and AI to spend time with my family.
Buckle up. Here comes my standard biography, which makes me sound super snobby but is supposed to impress you!
I had led and built Interset, a leading-edge cybersecurity startup and In-Q-Tel portfolio company that used machine learning and behavioral analytics. Interset was acquired by Micro Focus in 2019, which was acquired by OpenText in 2022, where I led various analytics-related initiatives for OpenText’s security division.
Before Interset, I worked at IBM and Cognos, where I led the development of over 10 products in cloud computing, mobile, visualization, semantic search, data mining, and neural networks. I’ve been building analytical products for three decades.
I’m proud of my work in ethical and responsible AI. I was involved with the OECD in the G7 Hiroshima AI process, consulted on on Canada’s Code of Conduct for Generative AI and the G7 Hiroshima AI process, held advisory positions on NSERC Strategic Networks, was involved in setting goals for NSERC Strategic Research Grant research topics in the areas of analytics and security for Canada, was an invited participant in 2018’s G7 Multistakeholder Conference on Artificial Intelligence and in 2020’s consultation with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada on the regulation of AI for data privacy, and contributed to articles and publications on cybersecurity AI, AI ethics, and AI regulation, such as Verizon’s “Data Breach Investigations Report” and the European Liberal Forum’s “European Cybersecurity in Context.”
I hold a M.Sc. in Computational Neuroscience and Biomedical Engineering and a dual B.Sc. in Computer Science and Human Physiology, all from the University of Toronto.
